Fractional CDO · Data & Analytics · Automation

Your organization has the data. It doesn't have anyone turning it into decisions.

Corvyn Systems gives mid-market companies senior data leadership without a full-time hire. Strategy when you need direction, hands-on engineering when you need it built.

Reports nobody reads

Dashboards get built, then ignored, because they answer questions leadership never asked.

Two numbers for one metric

Finance and operations bring different figures to the same meeting, and the meeting becomes about whose is right.

Spreadsheet purgatory

Smart people spend hours a week copying data between files when the work should run on its own.

Services

Leadership and execution from the same person.

01

Fractional CDO

Part-time data leadership on a monthly retainer. I set the data strategy, define the metrics that matter, decide what to build and what to stop, and translate between your technical team and leadership.

  • Data strategy and roadmap
  • Metric definitions and governance
  • Team structure and hiring support
02

Data & Analytics Consulting

Defined-scope projects that get your data into one trustworthy place and put it in front of the people making decisions.

  • Data warehouse and pipeline builds
  • Data modeling (dbt, SQL)
  • Reporting and dashboards people use
03

AI & Automation

Most manual work isn't a technology problem. Nobody with data skills has looked at the workflow yet. I find the repetitive work and automate it, using AI where it helps and plain scripts where it doesn't.

  • Workflow and process automation
  • AI agents and LLM integrations
  • Web scraping and data collection
04

Data Leadership Ghostwriting

Writing for executives and data leaders who have the expertise but not the time. Written by someone who does the work, so it reads like it.

  • LinkedIn and newsletter content
  • Data strategy memos and board updates
  • Voice capture so it sounds like you

Approach

Fundamentals over tools.

Tools change every year. Knowing what data you have, where it needs to go, and what decision it supports doesn't. Every engagement follows the same order.

  1. Understand the business

Before touching data, I learn how your operation actually runs and which decisions are slow or contested.

  2. Find the gap

Usually it's one of three things: the data doesn't exist, it can't be trusted, or it isn't reaching the right person.

  3. Build the fix

Pipelines, models, automations, reports. Built in tools your team can maintain after I'm gone.

  4. Hand it off

Documentation and walkthroughs that explain why it was built that way, not just what it does.

About

Scott Fiene

I'm a data and analytics engineer with a background in energy markets and civil infrastructure, two fields where a wrong number has real consequences. That's where I learned to care about whether data is right before caring how it looks.

I started Corvyn Systems because most mid-market organizations don't need a full-time Chief Data Officer. They need someone who can set direction, talk to leadership in plain language, and still open the code and build the thing.

If your team spends more time arguing about numbers than acting on them, that's the problem I work on.
